"Cashmeran is dry, radiant, warm and woody with an unexpected hint of pine resin," says Geza Schön. "That gave me the idea to create another summer fragrance. I wanted to evoke what it's like to be by the sea, but not with the usual sea notes, which I find too artificial. Instead, I wanted to recreate the experience of being on an island in the Mediterranean Sea.

The top note of Escentric 05 is very simple: bergamot, to keep things light, and orange, an ingredient that has an emotional tone, bright and cheerful. It reflects the orange groves that cover this island. Laurel and rosemary are typical Mediterranean plants with a spicy freshness, juniper brings a herbal tonality and cypress is a very dry, sharp wood.

The drydown contains two classic Mediterranean ingredients, Cistus Labdanum and Mastic. Mastic is a resin produced by a small tree that grows especially near the sea. It has the clean, pungent scent of freshly cut branches. Cistus is a small plant that grows all over the Mediterranean. It has a sweet, leathery balsamic quality that I love. And of course, there's about 15% cashmeran - which gives the scent its piney warmth.

I also introduced a subtle fig, both the bitterness of the leaves and the ripeness of the fruit. Figs had to be in there, because there's a fig tree by our house on the island. Fig feels authentic, it reminds me of the happiness of summer by the sea."

Each fragrance in Geza Schön's Escentric Molecules is released in two versions: The Molecule version is based on a single fragrance molecule in its purest form - a provocative departure from the classic fragrance pyramid of head, heart and base. The Escentric version of a fragrance olfactorily encircles the same molecule in unusually high concentration, accompanied by refined minimalist notes.
