Perfumer: Geza Schoen is the visionary mind behind Escentric Molecules. As a trained perfumer, he became disillusioned early on with the increasing commercialisation of the industry. He developed fragrances around the key synthetic molecule Iso-E-Super. This led to the creation of Escentric Molecules 01, which has been delighting a global fanbase since 2006 as a completely novel concept. Geza Schoen continually expands the brand with innovative fragrances based on synthetic molecules.
Escentric Molecules
As we entered 2006, the perfume of the 21st century was still waiting to be born. Something radical was needed to end the century-long slumber, an unusual idea that would shake up the status quo. It was to be called Escentric Molecules and become the fragrance sensation of the 21st century, triggering a frenzy that no one had anticipated. For if there was anyone who could conjure up the poignantly cool energy of minimalism, it was the innovative maverick and the nose of master perfumer Geza Schoen. Escentric Molecules owes its existence to an aromatic molecule that does not occur in nature. Iso E Super was developed in an IFF laboratory in 1973. Until the launch of Escentric Molecules, this molecule was unknown outside the world of perfumery, although it appears in relatively low concentrations in the background of many women’s and men’s fragrances. It is prized by perfumers for its velvety, enveloping qualities. Geza conceived the idea of creating a fragrance duo in which Iso E Super takes centre stage as a standalone scent. It was to be called Escentric Molecules 01 and turn the world of perfumery on its head. Since then, Geza has produced a whole family of spiritual descendants, focusing on minimalist, radical concepts that challenge traditional fragrance composition and perception. The result is a range of radical, purist and unique body fragrances that celebrate perfumery as the art of chemistry.
