The active ingredient

Menthol: Menthol occurs naturally in the essential oil of plants of the genus Mentha (e.g. in peppermint or field mint grown in Japan or China). Cosmetically, menthol has disinfecting and refreshing properties. It acts at the cold menthol receptor and therefore has an apparent cooling effect when applied to the skin, but without affecting body temperature.

Application: Apply gel to wet skin and cleanse the body with it. Do not get it in the eyes.
